Summit County ADM Board Welcomes Two New Members

The Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health (ADM) Services Board welcomed two new members at the January meeting. Robert C. Schwartz, Ph.D. and Valerie Riedthaler, Ph.D. were sworn in by The Honorable Annalisa S. Williams, Akron Municipal Court Judge.
Robert C. Schwartz, Ph.D. currently serves as the Director of the Clinic for Individual and Family Counseling and Professor, Department of Counseling at the
University of
Akron . He received his Ph.D. from the
University of
Florida , Department of Counselor Education and is licensed as a Professional Clinical Counselor/Supervising Counselor (PCC) in the State of
Ohio . His term begins immediately and will run through June 30, 2013. His remarks about his appointment, “As a clinician and counselor educator/supervisor, I am keenly aware of the need for broad community support for persons coping with psychological/emotional/social distress and the agencies that serve them. I am honored to join a team committed to reducing disability, stigma, and suffering resulting from addiction and mental illness. The mission of the ADM Board demonstrates a clear vision of how to help improve the fabric of our community, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve
Summit
County through Board membership."
Valerie Riedthaler, Ph.D. has been the Director of Pupil Services in the
Norton
City
School District since July 2007. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education degree, a Master of Education degree, and a Ph.D. in Education Administration all from
Kent
State
University . Her term begins immediately and will run through June 30, 2013. She comments about her appointment, “I am looking forward to working with professionals in the ADM community to provide services to people suffering from alcohol/drug addiction and/or mental illness. We are all responsible to provide these services to those who need them.”
