Adolescents in Summit County can receive treatment for substance use disorder that focuses on keeping families together and providing care that enables the child to understand treatment and recovery.

Each provider agency has an intake process where the individual receives a clinical evaluation and is prescribed a level of services based on assessment of the severity of the problem for which they have sought help.

Individual Counseling services are targeted to the specific needs and issues presented by an individual. Services are individualized to address mutual treatment goals, usually involving behavior change, interpersonal relationships and how one views and understands situations.
Group Counseling involves a series of structured sessions in a group setting that work toward the attainment of mutually defined goals. Counseling is conducted with small groups of people addressing common issues. Groups can consist of psychoeducational, or teaching about addiction issues, skill development, which enhance skills needed prevent relapse and cognitive-behavioral, which rearrange patterns of thinking that lead to addiction, or support groups where members hold each other accountable by supporting constructive change and confronting obstacles.
Case Management services are designed to provide advocacy, support, and community- based- interventions and activities to assist and support individuals and groups in gaining access to needed medical, social, educational, and other services essential to meeting basic human needs. Case management services may include interactions with other youth agencies/service providers, the legal system, family members, and / or other individuals important to the child or teen.
Intensive Home Based Therapy is a coordinated program for Summit County youth which can include Intensive Home-Based Services and Co-Occurring Home-Based Treatment for co-occurring problems with substance use disorder and emotional health. The program provides tailored counseling, community support services and crisis assistance to children and families experiencing a level of mental illness related distress that makes family disruption or placement of a child outside the home an imminent possibility. Immediate access to service at all times and multiple contacts per week are important aspects of this level of care.
Child Guidance & Family Solutions provides a safe, caring & supportive environment to help children or teens overcome the challenges they face and to help strengthen the family in the process. As a medical sub-specialty practice, CG&FS professional staff includes child psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, counselors, nurse practitioners, and social workers to ensure that a full spectrum of services are available to wrap-around the child and family. Staff provides services to children within seven public school districts and at over 30 preschools throughout Summit County. We provide services and support with clinicians on-site in pediatric medical facilities, primary care facilities and other community locations to ensure that the child's health is supported holistically, integrating physical and mental healthcare. We offer crisis services 24-7-365 to ensure that our children and families who find themselves in an emergency have somewhere to turn for help.
